International Jampot Rally, Nelson

Pre-Rally Tour 3rd-14th February 2020
In February, 2020, we hosted the International Jampot Rally for Matchless and AJS motorcycle riders, over here in New Zealand. But before that we held a pre-rally tour of New Zealand's South Island. We left Nelson on Monday 3rd Feb. Some 30 odd Kiwi Jampot club members and 17 International AJS/Matchless club enthusiasts rode to Murchison, Franz Josef, Arrowtown, and stayed in Invercargill for 4 days to enjoy the Burt Munro Challenge. From here we traveled north to Alexandra, Geraldine, Hanmer, Te Mahia, picking up fellow NZ Club Members enroute. A total of 55 of us left for the Rally HQ from Te Mahia to Nelson on Friday the 14th of March.
There were gravel roads, washed out roads, it rained, it poured, it was hot, it was cold, it was fun!
Along the way a well known local film maker and camera man accompanied the tour and a Documentary film has been produced covering the pre-rally tour and the International Rally.
Pre-rally South Island tour itinerary
A large group of us, 50 plus, travelled around the South Island before the rally on our Matchless' AJS' and an assortment of other vehicles. We had a great time. We now have a live record of all the fun, mistakes, mishaps, breakdowns, camaraderie and experiences very few people will get to do, so enjoy this journey, have a laugh, help a stranger who may become a lifetime friend and keep your fingers crossed these old machines we love to ride will get us there and back in one piece.
