Camp Rangi Woods Pohangina Valley 8th -10th March 2019

The 2019 Jampot Rally is being held at Camp Rangi Woods in the Pohangina Valley.   The camp is in a rural setting situated in the Totara Reserve regional park, locally known as “The jewel of the Manawatu”. The area is of native forest and Camp Rangi Woods runs parallel to the Pohangina River 35 minutes from Palmerston North and Feilding.

Once a scouting venue and founded by the YMCA and the late Charles "Rangi" Woods whom the camp is named after, it has over the years been developed to accommodate the wider community. In 2004, after the devastating floods, Camp Rangi Woods was totally refurbished and upgraded.

The Venue is used for numerous occasions including Weddings, schools, reunions, conferences, Churches, Motorcycle and car groups to name a few.  Being in the Totara Reserve, you are surrounded by beautiful bush walks and you can even walk up to see the gloworms at night.

The 2019 Jampot is a “second try” at having a rally at Rangi Woods as those who attended the 2012 Jampot rally there will recall that the weather bomb that hit the district was particualy devastating and violent.  The closed roads and storm condition prevented any activites taking place and the rally was a complete washout.  It was further unfortunate as 2012 was our 25th Jampot Rally.  So why not give Rangi Woods a second chance hence the “2nd try” Jampot rally.  We believe we have managed to achieve an affordable rally cost for a great weekend.  The all inclusive entry cost includes the cost of entry to the museums.

Derek Porter, one of our founding members had put a lot of effort into organising the 2012 rally and again put up his hand to organise the 2019 rally.  The rally will take the usual format and for the Saturday ride Derek has arranged for us to visit a couple of motorcycle collections.  Attached is an entry form and it is recommended you get your entry in now to secure a place.

PS You will need to bring a tooth brush, a plate, a cup, sleeping bag...
